CLIMATE ARTIVISTS

Our past artworks have honored climate solutions and OTHER climate charities. But we need some merch of our very own! And so we commissioned a brand new design inspired by the role that art can play in climate activism. A design that honors all the artist activists out there. To create this new work we reached out to one of our favorite artists, SoCal based illustrator Kaia Sauter. We call it Climate Artivists. A group of anthropomorphized animals with different art making tools. A mural painter, a screen printer, an illustrator. Kaia has added little climate solution easter eggs / references on the T-shirt graphics, jacket patches, burned screen, etc.
Kaia says, "I wanted the design to be a fun depiction of what Functional Magic is — essentially a bunch of climate activist artists making things for good. I personally work in a bunch of different mediums and wanted to make sure that we were representing a range of types of art — mural painting, screen printing, drawing/cartooning, etc."
With the help of our favorite local indie print studio Press Friends, we’ve screen-printed Kaia’s 4 color design on Unisex, Womens, and Youth T Shirt blanks from ethical and sustainable clothing brands EConscious and Allmade. Plus U.S. based, veteran-owned shop Stickerfied has printed the design on premium vinyl stickers for us. Having this merch as a thank-you gift option available to our donors going forward is a huge win as we continue to find our audience, make more art, and get more folks excited about clean electrification, nature-based, and political climate solutions. All donations go to the production costs for the shirts and anything we bring in over that will help us keep our doors open.
